Tensile Testing of belts, webbing, tape and braided materials (textile)

ASTM 6775 - Breaking Strength and Elongation of Textile Webbing, Tape and Braided Material

Standard

ASTM 6775 is a simple tensile testing method for belts, webbing, tape and braided materials. This particular standard refers to flat strap like shaped materials. These materials often cannot be gripped with traditional tensile grips. In the standard it suggests using a "split-drum type specimen clamp." on a "Tensile testing machine, CRE-Type" with CRE referring to a Constant Rate of Extension.
