ASTM D 2979 - Standard Test Method for Pressure-Sensitive Tack of Adhesives Using an Inverted Probe Machine

 Standard

The ASTM D 2979 outlines how the inverted probe test of pressure sensitive tackiness is to be tested.

Accessory

Probe tack test for pressure-sensitive tack of adhesives

This testing accessory is designed and made according to the ASTM D 2979 standard for testing pessure sentive adhesives such as band-aids. Similar probe tests are done to measure the "tackiness" properties of adhesive and other sticky/tacky surfaces. A typical tack test requires the probe to come in contact with the test specimen for a determined amount of time and to apply a determined amount of pressure then to measure the pull force required. For the ASTM D 2979 the inverted probe shape, surface area, material and weight of the adhesive jig is specified.
